Department of Labor regional director for Western Visayas, Atty. Sixto Rodriguez, Jr. encouraged employers to comply “faithfully” with the approved wage hike that took effect June 5.
DOLE said that the new minimum wage rate for non-agricultural, industrial, commercial establishments with 10 or more employees will be P450 and P420 for those with less than 10 employees.
Agricultural workers, on the other hand, will receive a P410 daily minimum wage while the new monthly salary for “Kasambahays” will be P4,500.
In a statement, Rodriguez said he hopes that the new wage hike will help workers in addressing their daily needs.
On the part of the employers, the DOLE regional director said he also hopes that employers will accept the new wage order issued by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board, after hearing their sides.
“We respect your rights, and we also hope that you respect also the rights of workers for the minimum wage,” Rodriguez said.
Five business groups from Capiz and Iloilo have appealed for the recall of Wage Order RBVI-26, which imposes a 13 percent to 35 percent increase, and its amendment to 3 percent to 5 percent of the current rate.
The 16-page petition stated that the new minimum wage that was approved by the RTWPB last month and forwarded to the NWPC on May 14 was “gravely ill-timed and unreasonable.”* with reports from PNA
