Bacolod Rep. Greg Gasataya said they are considering the donation of a 3.5-hectare in Brgy. Vista Alegre, Bacolod City as a possible site for the establishment of the Bacolod City General Hospital.

Gasataya said he has been requested by the Department of Health (DOH) to follow-up the matter. The donor of the property has been in constant communication with him this year.

He also hopes that the city government will comply with all the requirements requested by the DOH so that the implementation of the project will be smooth-sailing by next year, Gasataya said.

The solon said he also called City Legal Officer Joselito Bayatan asking for the status of the request of Mayor Evelio Leonardia in July regarding the donation of the property. He informed Bayatan that it is fine with him if the property will be donated to the city, the national government, or any government agency.

What is important is that there is a donation for the establishment of the hospital either coming from the private sector, a corporation or family, Gasataya said.

Bayatan informed him that they are now working on the deed of donation, he said.

Gasataya said he is hoping that all the paper works and the request of the DOH, as well as other documents will be complied with or completed.

They will sit down with the DOH and the city government to discuss the agreement to be entered into by the landowner with the DOH, he said.

He also stressed that this project is very important and should transcend politics because it is for the people of Bacolod. They should work hand-in-hand to deliver the project which he pushed for in 2018 and refiled in Congress until it became a law and was funded by the national government, Gasataya added.*
