Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia reminded Bacolodnons yesterday not to celebrate prematurely despite the de-escalation of Bacolod City to Alert Level 1.
“Being in Alert Level 1 is something that is reassuring and it showed that our policies and practices have been hitting the targets. At the same time, let us always remind ourselves that COVID is still here,” the mayor said.
“We still need to use face masks because it is still a necessity under the circumstance. Let’s not prematurely disregard all these protocols because even in Alert Level 1, there are IATF guidelines that we need to follow,” Leonardia said at the sideline of the oath-taking ceremony of the new set of officers of the Negros Press Club yesterday.

Aquilino “Boy” Ciocon of RPN-DyKB was voted NPC president alongside Rey Siason (RPN-DyKB) as vice president; Adrian Nemes (SunStar Bacolod), secretary; Henceboy Cestina (DYRL), treasurer and Elsie Jolingan (RPN-DyKB), auditor, as well as Jun Gaton (Pasiplat), Bryan Morden (DyEZ Aksyon Radyo Bacolod), Chito Berjit (ANB-Aletheia Netcast Bacolod) and Manny Canto (Ultra Media PH) as directors.
Leonardia also echoed his call for residents to still observe minimum health protocols so that the city can sustain its lowest community quarantine classification.
“Vaccination is our way to salvation,” the mayor added, stressing the importance of getting jabbed and being protected against COVID-19.
Leonardia issued Executive Order No. 9 an order declaring Alert Level 1 in Bacolod City from March 1 to 15.
Until further advice, the liqour ban is lifted while the city stays under Alert Level 1, while daily curfew hours will be observed from 12 midnight to 4 a.m.*
