Officials of the Department of Science and Technology Negros Oriental donated 100 face shields for use by medical frontliners deployed to prevent and manage the spread of COVID-19.
The donation is in line with the objective of DOST-Metals and Industry Research and Development Center, led by its executive director, Robert Dizon, to provide face shields to medical frontliners nationwide, including Dumaguete City, amid the pandemic.
The DOST-MIRDC is pooling its resources, technology, and ingenuity to continue to support healthcare workers and frontliners in battling the pandemic, with the mass production and distribution of face shields.
Present during the turnover were Dumaguete Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo, City Planning and Development officer Leonides Caro, DOST Negros Oriental director Gilbert Arbon, training coordinator Rommel Romagos, science research specialist Reinhold JekAbing, Jay-ArAbugan of VVER Construction, and DPWH engineers Ann Christine Mananquil and Ivan Don Imbo.
Negros Oriental Chamber of Commerce and Industry officers Edward Du and John Jalandoni also recently handed over to Remollo and City Health Officer, Dr. Maria Sarah Talla, about 1,000 pieces of washable face masks donated by local entrepreneurs and businessmen.
They also discussed the economic recovery proposals advocated by NOCCI and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, through the MSMED Summit and the “Bayanihan Para Makabangon” credit facility as an economic stimulus for the local government to cushion the economic fallout from the coronavirus pandemic.*
