A resolution requesting the Department of Public Services (DPS) to conduct clean-up and to collect garbage in all cemeteries generated during All Souls Day and All Saints Day in Bacolod City was approved by the Bacolod Sangguniang Wednesday.

The resolution authored by Councilor Claudio Jesus Raymundo Puentevella said November 1 and 2 mark the annual observance of honoring the dead where people go to cemeteries to visit their departed loved ones and bring them food and beverage, thus leaving behind huge piles of garbage.

Several days after All Saints Day and All Souls Day, there are still volumes of garbage that have remained uncollected which can cause sanitation and health problems to residents in nearby residential areas, it said.

This resolution invites the active participation of Bacolodnons in observing practices that promote clean, safe, healthy and sustainable environment, it added.*
