A supposedly fun drinking session of a group of friends at Sitio Ubay, Barangay Guinpanaan, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental, turned into bloodshed as a shooting incident transpired in the middle of the session on Monday evening.
Based on the initial investigation by Moises Padilla Police, the victim, identified only as a 43-year-old married male, and the suspect, alias “Tawin,” 40, and a resident of Barangay 5 in the town, were drinking along with their other companions at the victim’s house.
While the session was going on, one member of the group, who was said to be Tawin’s friend, became unruly and created alarm and scandal in the said area.
The victim immediately acted on the incident and was able to pacify the chaos. However, the suspect, who was also affected by alcohol intoxication, suddenly drew his 9mm revolver and allegedly shot the victim in his right leg.
The victim was rushed to Moises Padilla Municipal Health Office and later referred to Isabela District Hospital for further medical attention. He survived and is now in stable condition.
Meanwhile, the suspect, who fled the area and went in an unknown direction after the incident, was apprehended by the police through a hot pursuit operation.
Recovered from the possession and control of the suspect was one unit of a black widow 9mm revolver without a serial number, loaded with four live ammunition and one empty cartridge case, which was allegedly used in committing the crime.
The suspect was under the custody of Moises Padilla MPS for proper disposition.*
