A 57-year-old woman died on Wednesday following a drowning incident in Purok Villarosa, Barangay Damsite, in the town of Murcia, Negros Occidental.
The incident occurred in Barangay Damsite, where the victim was retrieved by a resident identified as Jomarie, at approximately 3:44 p.m.
According to reports, she was seen washing clothes in the river bank of Purok Paghimakas in the barangay, before the incident.
Upon the arrival of the personnel from the Murcia Fire Station and Murcia Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), residents of Purok Villarosa had already recovered the victim.
An initial assessment found the victim to be without a pulse and not breathing.
The assessment of MDRRMO noted injuries, including swelling in the occipital area and puncture parietal lacerations on both sides of the temporal region.*
