Drug arrests yield P400T in shabu

Police seized more than P400,000 worth of suspected shabu from five drug suspects arrested on May 24 in separate buy-bust operations in Negros Occidental.

Tricycle driver Joven Capistrano was arrested by operatives of the Drug Enforcement Team on Tuesday in Brgy. 3, La Carlota City.

The apprehension of Capistrano 26, who ranks number four in the drug watch list of the La Carlota City Police Station, yielded an estimated 50 grams of suspected shabu with a market value of P340,000, marked money of P500 and a cellular phone.

PLt. Col. Arnel Solis, regional police spokesman, disclosed that Capistrano was the subject of monitoring for several months on his illegal drug activities before his arrest.

The apprehension of another drug suspect identified by the police as Aldrin Pacino, 49, in Sitio Maninihon, Brgy. Guinhalaran, Silay City, in another buy bust operation also yielded about eight grams of suspected shabu with a market value of P54,400, P600 in buy-bust money and P61 in cash.

Two other drug suspects identified as Ruffa Ubarra, 32, and Lonie Aberia, 41, were also apprehended by the police inside a pension house in Brgy. 3, Kabankalan City.

The police recovered a gram of suspected shabu with a market value of P6,800, marked money of P500, shabu paraphernalia and P120 in cash.

The arrest of Ricardo Jalandoon in Sitio Banquerohan, Brgy. Punta Mesa, Manapla, also yielded eight sachets of suspected shabu with a market value of P5,780, P500 in marked money and P20 in cash, police said.*
