A former drug surrenderer was gunned down by two men on a motorcycle at about 8:50 p.m. Thursday at Palanca Street in Brgy. 10, Bacolod City.
Various angles are still being looked into on why Mark Bonnan Juesna, 35, of Purok Mapinalangaon in Brgy. 35, Bacolod, was shot dead, P/Capt. Vincent Paul Pendon, Station 2 chief, said yesterday.
Brgy. 35 kagawad Roberto Dela Peña, the uncle of Juesna, said the victim, who, he claimed to be a police asset, was a former drug surrenderer.
Initial investigation conducted by P/Staff Sgt. Gerwin Catolico showed that Juesna was on his scooter and traversing Palanca Street near the Bacolod Reclamation Area when the suspects blocked his way and shot him in the head, causing his immediate death.
Pendon said they recovered from Juesna’s body a .45 caliber pistol loaded with ammunition, six bullets of the same caliber, and an empty magazine, while a fired cartridge from an unknown firearm was found at the crime scene.
Several truck drivers nearby heard the gunshots but failed to see the assailants, who fled after the shooting incident.*
