The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) successfully intercepted an attempt to enter illegal drugs from a female visitor on Saturday noon in the Metro Bacolod District Jail Male Dormitory in Barangay Handumanan, Bacolod City.
The suspect, Frezel Anne Erespe, was caught with a heat-sealed transparent sachet containing suspected shabu during a mandatory pat-down frisk.
The agency reported that a female jail officer instructed Erespe to remove all unnecessary items. During the pat-down search, the officer noticed a protruding substance from the left pocket of Erespe.
The suspect was immediately instructed to remove the item, and a sachet of suspected shabu accidentally fell from her pocket.
The officer promptly reported the incident to the jail warden, and the apprehension was later referred to the Philippine National Police (PNP).
The seizure of the suspected shabu and the arrest of the visitor were conducted in accordance with lawful procedures, pursuant to the provisions of RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and the BJMP Operations Manual.
The suspect, who is now in police custody, will face criminal charges for violation of the said law.*
