A 51-year-old man was arrested by the Murcia Municipal Police Station (MPS) after he allegedly stabbed his son during a drunken confrontation in Barangay Sta. Rosa, Murcia, Negros Occidental, on Tuesday.
The suspect, identified as alias Vic, had reportedly returned home from a drinking spree when he began an argument with his 25-year-old son, alias ‘Jovic,’ over the frequent changing of spare parts on the victim’s motorcycle.
The dispute escalated into a physical struggle, during which the father used a bolo to stab the victim multiple times before being pacified by neighbors and relatives.
While the suspect initially fled the scene, he was apprehended during a hot pursuit operation involving police and barangay officials.
Recovered from the scene was the bladed weapon used in the incident.
Murcia MPS Chief Capt. Honey Labaro said they released the suspect from their custody as the son did not pursue any charges.
Meanwhile, the victim was transported to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital where he is currently in stable condition.*
