A drunk man ran amok and hacked his older sister at Sitio Pacia, Barangay Calapi, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental, on Sunday.
According to the investigation of the Hinigaran Municipal Police Station, the suspect was drunk and unruly and had started to cut down the banana trees owned by his older sister. Out of fear, the victim did not interrupt her younger brother as he was cutting down her trees.
The victim did not stop or confront the suspect, but when she went to take a nap, the suspect entered her house and hacked her with a cane cutter, for no apparent reason, hitting her on the right ear and neck.
The victim was identified as Maria Leah Trinidad, 56, married, and a housewife, while the suspect was her younger brother, Norberto Sulivan Jr., 44, a married farmer. Both are residents of the area.
The suspect fled the crime scene after the incident, bringing the weapon with him. The victim managed to get away and later decided to go to the hospital because her wounds needed medical attention. The victim required stitches and is now in a stable condition.
The police, in coordination with the officials of Barangay Calapi, apprehended the suspect who is now under their custody. They are waiting for the decision of the victim on whether or not she will file a case against her brother.*
