Alias “Ju,” a 45-year-old married man, hacked his father multiple times after a drinking session at their house at Sitio Calumpag, Purok 5, Barangay Poblacion in Cauayan, Negros Occidental, on Thursday afternoon.
Based on the investigation by the Cauayan Municipal Police Station, the father and son were having a drinking session inside their house when a heated argument erupted between them.
During the altercation, the son grabbed a bladed weapon, believed to be a sugarcane cutter, and hacked his father on the right side of his face and at the back portion of his body.
PLT. Raffy Billones of the Cauayan MPS said that there was an ongoing grudge and misunderstanding between the father and son for a long time, resulting in them having confrontations when drunk.
The victim was identified as a 75-year-old senior citizen, who is now in stable condition after being brought to Cauayan District Hospital after the incident, Billones said.
Meanwhile, the suspect who fled after the scene of the crime, toward the nearby sugarcane plantation in the area, was apprehended by the police. Police said that the suspect also sustained a wound on the left foot due to the incident.
The suspect is currently under the custody of the authorities, while waiting for the decision of his family whether or not charges will be filed against him.*
