The city of Victorias in Negros Occidental has been cited as by the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Western Visayas as a Child Friendly Local Government Unit in the region.
The award was received on November 11 by City Social Welfare and Development Officer Joy Reunir, who represented Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez.
In a statement, the DSWD said “this recognition is a testament to the exemplary efforts of your Local Government Unit in prioritizing the welfare and rights of children, ensuring that their best interests are at the heart of local governance.”
“By meeting the standards of the Child-Friendly Local Governance Audit (CFLGA), your LGU has set a remarkable example in fostering a community where children can thrive and grow in a safe, nurturing environment,” it added.
The recognition is an inspiration to all, and we look forward to seeing even greater strides in the pursuit of child-friendly governance in the future, the statement further said.*
