The Department of Social Welfare and Development has distributed P1,148,264,719 in financial to 196,045 Negrense families affected by Typhoon Tino when it hit the island last November.
A total of 198,894 affected families in towns and cities of 4th and 5th districts of Negros Occidental and Canlaon City in Negros Oriental, are beneficiaries of the DSWD Emergency Cash Assistance program.
As 97 percent of the affected families having received the financial assistance, Arwin Razo, DSWD regional director for Negros Island Region, said they are now working to ensure the remaining three percent eligible families also receive support.
DSWD personnel are currently coordinating with barangays where unassisted beneficiaries are still registered, to complete the distribution process.
Severely affected families with destroyed homes received P10,325 each, while families with partially or slightly damaged homes will get P 5,369 each.
The distribution is part of a post-disaster intervention of the DSWD to help families meet immediate needs and repair their homes.*
