The Department of Social Welfare and Development – Negros Island Region reported the distribution of P574,957,686 in financial assistance to 85,990 beneficiaries who are victims of Typhoon Tino, in six local government units of Negros Occidental, and Canlaon City in Negros Oriental, as of March 2.
Arwin Razo, DSWD regional director for Negros Island Region, said they are now continuing the simultaneous Emergency Cash Transfer (ECT) payout in Bago City, Pulupandan, Binalbagan, and Pontevedra in the 4th and 5th districts of Negros Occidental, while they have already completed the payout in Canlaon City, Negros Oriental.
The beneficiaries are classified into families with severely damaged houses, who receive P10,325 each and those with slightly damaged houses, who get P5,369 each.
The DSWD allocated P1.1 billion in cash assistance for families and tourism workers affected by Typhoon Tino in Negros Island.
Razo said more than 50 percent of the cash allocation has already been distributed to the affected families.
The DSWD-NIR is targeting the middle of this month to complete the distribution of ECT to 198,894 beneficiaries.
This will be followed by the distribution of social pension to indigent senior citizens, Razo said.
In Negros Occidental, La Castellana got P144,244,793, Hinigaran – P138,933,200, Isabela – P94,327,135, La Carlota City – P92,201,837, Himamaylan City – P63,590,436, San Enrique – P21,091,910, and in Negros Oriental, P20,568,375 was for Canlaon City.*
