DSWD-NIR satellite office opens in Isabela

• GILBERT P. BAYORAN

The Department of Social Welfare and Development – Negros Island Region (DSWD-NIR) has opened a satellite office in Isabela, Negros Occidental, aimed at improving the delivery of government services and assistance to communities in the province’s fifth district.

In a statement, DSWD-NIR said the new facility will help bring its programs and services closer to residents, particularly vulnerable sectors and individuals facing crisis situations. The agency added that the initiative seeks to provide faster, more accessible, and efficient assistance to beneficiaries across the region.

Located in the center of the fifth district of Negros Occidental, the satellite office is expected to serve not only residents of Isabela but also nearby local government units such as La Castellana, Binalbagan, Hinigaran, and Moises Padilla.

With the establishment of the office, residents from these areas will no longer need to travel to Bacolod City for DSWD-related transactions, reducing travel time, transportation costs, and inconvenience for beneficiaries.

DSWD-NIR Regional Director Arwin Razo, who led the blessing and inauguration of the facility, underscored the importance of strengthening the government’s presence in local communities through accessible frontline services.

Razo said bringing DSWD services closer to the people would ensure that assistance is delivered in a more timely, compassionate, and responsive manner.

He also emphasized that the satellite office symbolizes stronger collaboration between national and local government units in addressing the needs of disadvantaged and vulnerable sectors.

According to Razo, the project was realized through the support and partnership of Fifth District Rep. Emilio Bernardino Yulo and Isabela Mayor Miguel Yulo.*
