Good news for Negrenses.

Before he stepped down from the presidency, Rodrigo Roa Duterte signed a law on June 29 increasing to 300 from 100 the bed capacity of the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City, Negros Occidental.

It would also increase the existing workforce of TLJPH, which includes doctors, nurses and support personnel, according to Third District Rep. Jose Francisco Benitez, who authored House Bill 10463 in the House of Representatives

The law that aims to upgrade TLJPH bed capacity takes effect 15 days after publication in a newspaper of general circulation or in the Official Gazette.

Benitez said upgrading TLJPH will enhance its capacity to address the healthcare needs of Negrenses.

The Negros Occidental provincial government will also provide the necessary funds to cover the maintenance and other operating expenses and other appropriate funds for the additional human resource complement to support the increase in bed capacity, the upgrading of its facilities and professional health care services.

During his recent inaugural address, Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said that TLJPH, which is up for conversion from Level 2 to Level 3 to accommodate up to 300 in-patients, will be the premier hospital of the province and will be fully equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.

Lacson also said that the Lorenzo D. Zayco District Hospital in Kabankalan City and Cadiz District Hospital will be upgraded from Level l to Level 2, serving up to 100 inpatients.

He further vowed to continue the modernization of the equipment and infrastructure facilities of eight other district hospitals.*
