With the aim of highlighting the importance of saving lives from the deadly rabies, and to remind the public on responsible pet ownership, the municipality of E. B. Magalona has prepared activities to mark the 17th World Rabies Day today at the public plaza.
This year’s World Rabies Day theme, “All for 1, One Health for All” highlights the fact that health is not for a selected few but for everyone.
One of the main activities is the 3rd Dog Fashion Show, sponsored by Mayor Marvin Malacon and Kagawad Matthew Louis Malacon, president of Barangay Kagawad Association of Saravia (BAKAS).
Starting 6 a.m., dog owners participating in the Dog Walk are invited to register at the assembly area in front of the Fast West gas station (across E. B. Magalona National High School).
The Dog Walk will start at 7 a.m. from the assembly area going to the Public Plaza, where an opening program and the rest of the activities will be held.
Before the start of the program, dogs participating in the Dog Fashion Show are required to register starting 8 a.m., also at the EB Magalona public Plaza.
To give their respective messages during the opening program are Mayor Marvin Malacon, BAKAS President Matthew Louis Malacon, 3rd District Veterinarian Ruffa Mae Gersaniva, Acting Municipal Agriculturist Efren Garcia Jr., and Livestock Inspector Kathleen Barro.
Starting 9 a.m. a Veterinary Mission will be conducted, where Gersaniva and her team, including the personnel of the Municipal Agriculturist’s Office, will conduct free pet consultation, free pet deworming, and free anti-rabies vaccination. The Vet Mission is expected to run until 2 p.m.
Meanwhile, the Dog Fashion Show will be held starting 10 a.m. The winners will receive trophies and cash prizes.
The Municipal Health Office will show a video presentation on anti-rabies awareness campaign.
