E. B. Magalona town council vying for Legislative Award

The Sangguniang Bayan of E. B. Magalona, headed by Vice Mayor Eric Matulac, underwent an on-site validation and assessment on September 11, being among the provincial finalists in the 2023 Local Legislative Award (LLA).

Started in 2006, the award was conceptualized by the Philippine Councilors’ League (PCL), in partnership with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

The LLA recognizes the exemplary performance of City and Municipal Sanggunians for legislating measures that help build the foundation of meaningful local administration and development.

The award accords official recognition to City and Municipal Sanggunians that excel in the enactment of ordinances or resolutions that ultimately contribute to the attainment of desirable socio-economic and environmental outcomes.

The validation and assessment included document review, key informant interview, and site visit, based on the criteria of responsiveness of the legislative agenda; availability of legislative documents; effectiveness of the performance of the Sanggunian; efficiency of the performance of the Sanggunian; legislative citations and awards; capacity development for legislators and staff.

The Provincial Awards Committee is composed of LGOO VII Grace Natalie Azarraga, Cluster 1 head, LGOO VI Deo Orquejo, Jr. – Provincial Focal Person/Assessor, LGOO II Jasten Aires Ledesma, Documenter/Assessor, Bea Liza Fortaleza- Information Officer/Assessor, Atty. Sharmaine Abellana, Assessor, Natale Sepico, Assessor, Richelle Verdeprado – SWO IV/Assessor.

Also present were LGOO VII Jean Quistadio and DILG E. B. Magalona head Atty. Pierra Fuentespina- Lamayo, a press statement from the EB Magalona Public Information Office said.*
