EB Magalona, Bago, Sipalay also 2024 Gawad Kalasag awardees

More local government units in Negros Occidental have been declared by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) as 2024 Gawad KALASAG Awardees.

Joining Victorias City and province of Negros Occidental are E.B. Magalona, and the cities of Bago and Sipalay.

NDRRMC declared the local government units of E.B.Magalona, cities of Bago and Sipalay as fully compliant with the Gawad KALASAG Seal, for their unwavering commitment to safety, preparedness, and humanitarian assistance.

This will be the fourth Gawad Kalasag award of E.B. Magalona, which has been a consistent national awardee since 2021, and the third for Bago City.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, Victorias City Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez, E.B. Magalona Mayor Marvin Malacon, Bago City Mayor Nicholas Yulo, and Sipalay City Mayor Gina Lizares  are expected to receive their respective Gawad Kalasag Seal and receive Special Awards for Excellence in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and Humanitarian Assistance for CY 2024 under the Local DRRM Councils and Offices category, on December 11 in Iloilo City.

Sipalay City will also receive an award for the third Best Government Emergency Management and Response Team in the Western Visayas.

The NDRRMC awards the Gawad Kalasag Seal to local government units that adhere to the standards for the establishment and functionality of the LDRRMCs and LDRRMOs as mandated under Republic Act No. 10121, also known as the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010.*
