
Reigning Asian Boxing Federation (ABF) bantamweight champion Herlan Gomez of EB Magalona, Negros Occidental will see action in a non-title fight in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) on August 27 at 1 a.m. Philippine time.
After his four consecutive knockout wins in Bangkok, Thailand, Saraviahanon Herlan Gomez (9-1-0, 6 KOs) will battle India’s Vikash Dahiya (6-2-1, 4 KOs) in Dubai.
The boxing encounter will take place at Le Meridian Dubai Hotel and Conference Center.
The match, titled “Herlan Gomez vs. Vikash Dahiya,” is produced and organized by Color World Star Promotions, in association with Vic Sports Promotions, The Fighter Thailand, China star promoter Liu Gang, and Highland Boxing Promotion.
The 8-round bantamweight bout will be aired live on the promoters’ YouTube channels.
Fightnews ASIA reports that this is Gomez’s “golden chance in the City of Gold” as “boxing promoters, matchmakers, sponsors and fans in Dubai will be watching Herlan in action, interested in checking out the Filipino’s fighting skills, speed, and power.”
“Although this is a non-title fight, I am working hard to win this match because this is my chance to shine in Dubai,” Gomez told the E. B. Magalona PIO.
“I am always inspired to do my best in all my fights because of the strong support of Filipinos, especially my family and my fellow Saraviahanon,” Gomez added.
A statement issued by the EB Magalona Public Information Office said the 24-year-old boxing champion hails from Barangay Madalag, E. B. Magalona.
Gomez finished his secondary education in E. B. Magalona National High School and elementary in Doña A. Barrera Memorial School in Barangay Madalag.*
