The E.B. Magalona Police Station in Negros Occidental was adjudged as the top performer in the campaign against illegal gambling, loose firearms and illegal drugs among municipal police stations in Negros Island Region, for the months of January and February this year.
The recognition rites of outstanding police units in NIR was held on March 19 at Camp Alfredo Montelibano Sr. in Bacolod City.
PLt. Col. Joem Malong, regional police spokesperson, said the recognition highlighted the outstanding accomplishments of units across the region in the intensified campaigns against illegal drugs and loose firearms, two of the Philippine National Police’s foremost priorities in maintaining peace, order, and the safety of the public.
Awards were conferred to NIR police stations and Drug Enforcement Units (DEUs) that demonstrated exceptional performance in terms of arrests, volume of confiscated illegal drugs, firearms recovery, and operational efficiency.
Other top performing units for the campaign against illegal drugs were Bacolod City Police Office Stations, 2, 8 and 9; Victorias City Police Station in Negros Occidental; Dumaguete City Police Station in Negros Oriental; BCPO Drug Enforcement Unit; Silay City Police Station; and Pontevedra Police Station.
In the campaign against loose firearms, the other top performing units were BCPO Police Stations 2, 3, 6, 7, 8 and 10, Himamaylan City Police Station in Negros Occidental, San Jose Police Station and Dumaguete City Police Station in Negros Oriental, Bago City Police Station, Hinigaran, Calatrava, Murcia and Pontevedra Police Stations, Lazi Police Station in Siquijor, Jimalalud, Bayawan, Mabinay Police Stations in Negros Oriental; and the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office.
In a statement, Malong said the recognitions, which go beyond mere accolades, symbolizes the courage, diligence, and unwavering dedication of PRO NIR personnel who tirelessly stand at the forefront of the fight against criminality.*
