
The Municipality of E.B. Magalona officially switched on its Christmas lights around the town proper in a ceremony Thursday night, to herald the start of the Yuletide Season here, a press release from E.B. Magalona PIO said.
The ceremony was led by Mayor Marvin Malacon, Vice Mayor Eric Matulac, and Sangguniang Bayan Members.
Third District Rep. Jose Francisco “Kiko” Benitez was the special guest of the event. He said that since he took office in 2019, the Christmas lights in E. B. Magalona gets more festive each year.
In his message, Malacon thanked Benitez for his deep love for Saraviahanons, and for his strong support to the activities and programs of the Municipality.
With the switch-on ceremony, the town proper of E. B. Magalona turns more festive at nighttime as its surrounding premises, including the Municipal Building, Municipal Lagoon, Asenso Hall, Public Plaza, Saravia Commercial Building, and St. Joseph the Worker Parish sparkle with dazzling Christmas lights.
The switch-on was preceded by a Zumba Party at the Public Plaza. After the ceremony, revelers were entertained by local band Cali Island, while enjoying the food and drinks at various kiosks around the Plaza.
The Municipality is holding three nights of festivities, from December 7 to 9, to signal the start of the Christmas Season.
For three nights, revelers get to enjoy the performances of one live band per night in the Public Plaza, as well as the food and drinks at various kiosks.
CHRISTMAS WISHES
Local officials and representatives of various sectors and government agencies delivered their respective Christmas messages at the program.
Joining Mayor Malacon at the program were First Lady Mae Ross Malacon, their son Matthew Louis Malacon, who is now an executive assistant to the mayor, and their daughter, Maia Lianza Malacon.
Malacon thanked the Almighty for the generous blessings showered upon each Saraviahanon throughout the year.
Malacon said, “May these bright and colorful Christmas lights symbolize the abundant blessings for every Saraviahanon home, and a brighter future for our beloved Municipality.”
Also delivering their special Christmas messages were Cong. Kiko Benitez, Vice Mayor Eric Matulac, Rev. Fr. Ernie Larida, parish priest of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Municipal Planning and Development Office head Engr. Erwin Poniado, DILG-E. B. Magalona head Atty. Pierra Lamayo, Municipal Police Station chief Major Kenneth Jay Gratones, DepEd District Supervisors Angeles Verdeprado of Cluster 1 and Dr. Romualdo Batallones of Cluster 2, Office of Senior Citizens’ Affair head Willie Gervacio, and Municipal SK Federation president Cheska Gwyneth Lopez.
Also gracing the celebration were Land Transportation Office (LTO) E. B. Magalona District Office officer-in-charge Reuben Tampos, punong barangays, barangay council members (kagawad), SK chairpersons, and SK council members.
PERFORMERS
Adding color and fun to the festive celebration were the performances of singer Lyzette Pollentes, Tanza Elementary School Rondalla, St. Joseph the Worker Parish Choir and Youth Organization, DepEd Chorale, Teatro Laragway, and Municipal Government Office Heads.
A fireworks display and community singing capped the switch-on ceremony.*
