Elderly couple injured in Manapla road crash

An elderly couple was injured after their motorcycle collided with another approaching motorcycle in a curved section of the road in Barangay Chambery, Manapla, Negros Occidental, on Monday.

Initial investigations revealed that a 27-year-old driver, alias France, operating a Suzuki Raider, was traveling from Barangay Chambery Proper toward Manapla Proper. Meanwhile, the victims were on their motorcycle, going in the opposite direction.

As they reached a curved section of the road, the victims’ motorcycle encroached into the opposite lane, resulting in a collision between the two motorcycles.

The impact caused injuries to the drivers and the passenger, who were subsequently transported to Saint Ann Hospital for medical treatment.

Police reported that alias Tino, 60, who was riding the Rusi motorcycle, is in critical condition, while his wife, alias Celi, 60, sustained minor injuries.

Both motorcycles sustained unspecified damages and are currently under the custody of the police station for proper disposition.

In a separate incident, an elderly man was severely injured after being hit by a moving motorcycle along the National Road in Barangay Paglaum, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental.

Police said that 23-year-old alias Mark and 18-year-old alias Mar were onboard their motorcycle when a pedestrian crossed the road and was not immediately seen by the driver, resulting in a collision.

The motorcycle fell, and the pedestrian sustained injuries and was brought to Binalbagan Infirmary by responders for medical treatment.

The driver and the motorcycle are currently under the custody of Binalbagan PNP for proper disposition.*
