BY GILBERT P. BAYORAN

Senior citizens will be prioritized in the rollout of the US-made Moderna vaccine, Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz said yesterday.

Various local government units in Negros Occidental started yesterday the rollout of the 10,700 doses of Moderna vaccine received by the province recently.

Diaz noted that those in the A2 category, or senior citizens, are lagging behind in the vaccination, compared to the A1 or healthcare workers and A3 or persons with comorbidities, so LGUs have been told to prioritize the senior citizens in the vaccination of Moderna, he added.

He attributed the low turnout of senior citizens to their limited mobility and hesitation to get vaccinated. Aside from Moderna, the provincial government also received 10,000 more doses of Sinovac vaccine from the Department of Health early this week.*
