A total of 488 beneficiaries of the three most affected barangays of the Sipalay City – Barangays Gil Montilla, Mambaroto, and Cabadiangan – received the Emergency Shelter Kits Assistance from the Philippine Red Cross-Negros Occidental on November 11.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the PRC-Negros Occidental chapter Carlos Ganihong, together with the Local Government of Sipalay, led the ceremonial turn-over of the emergency shelter kits.

Ganihong said that everyone must prioritize safety and thanked those who volunteered to be a part of the PRC 143, a community-based volunteering program.

He said that people will not only remember Red Cross whenever they need blood donations but also want to be recognized by doing social services like volunteering and helping others during calamities.

On behalf of City Mayor Maria Gina Lizares, Community Affairs Officer Katherine Jocame thanked the PRC for their assistance and support to the city, and encouraged the beneficiaries to be grateful and must try to give back may it be big or small deeds.

PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard Gordon, concurrently a member of the Philippine Senate, joined the release of Emergency Shelter Kit Assistance virtually via zoom.

He said that he is delighted that the Philippine Red Cross is able to help the victims of the typhoon here in Negros. He also said that everyone must always be prepared and alert before, during, and after a calamity.

PRC Negros Occidental Dir. Joel Chua, Barangay Captain Gemma Trio, representatives from Barangay Mambaroto and Camindangan, PRC personnel and volunteers and Community Affairs Officer Gretchel Pedrosa were also present during the event.*
