The Escalante City government has offered a 10 hectare property to be used as site of the Police Regional Office 18 (Negros Island Region) headquarters in Escalante City, Negros Occidental.
The proposal of Mayor Melecio “Beboy” Yap was approved yesterday during the quarterly meeting of the joint Provincial Peace and Order, Provincial Development and Anti-Drug Abuse Councils meeting at the Provincial Capitol Social Hall in Bacolod City, which was presided by Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson.
The activation of PRO 18 was reported to have been tentatively scheduled for either the first or second week of March, with PNP chief Gen. Rommel Marbil as the guest of honor during the activation rites to be held at Camp Alfredo Montelibano Sr. in Bacolod City.
Under the setup, the PRO 18 will supervise the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office and Bacolod City Police Office, which is presently under the Police Regional Office 6, and the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office and Siquijor Police Provincial Office, under the supervision of the Police Regional Office 7.
The incoming PRO 18 regional director is yet to be named by Camp Crame.*
