A 59-year-old man, reportedly a former “asset” of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, was shot and killed yesterday by two unidentified suspects at Purok Malipayon in Brgy. 35, Bacolod City.
The victim, identified by the police as Jose Allan Braza, succumbed to a fatal gunshot wound in the head.
Initial investigations of the Police Station 1 showed that two unidentified suspects approached and shot Braza, while he was having a coffee outside of the barangay force multipliers headquarters.
The two suspects immediately fled after killing the victim, police said.
P/Maj. Ramel Sarona, Police Station 1 chief, said that they are still verifying if Braza was former CIDG asset.
On the other hand, a farmer identified by the police as Bernardo Samis was declared dead on arrival at a hospital after he was allegedly shot by a Rolan Sibugan on June 7 at Purok Maghirupay in Brgy Tapi, Kabankalan City.
The Kabankalan police reported that Samis, 56, was plowing the farm owned by Alex Sugaton, when he was shot by Sibugan, without any provocation.
The son of the victim, Joven Samis, was also shot at by Sibugan. He however managed to flee unharmed, police further said.
The shooting incident was reported by the police to have been triggered by a land conflict.*
