A former member of the Philippine Marine Corps (PMC) is now locked up in jail after he was arrested on Christmas Eve for alleged illegal discharge of firearms at Purok Rosas in Barangay Balingasag, Bago City, Negros Occidental.
The 43 year-old suspect, a retired enlisted personnel of the PMC, who was believed to be under the influence of liquor, initially denied the claims of his neighbors who heard gunshots inside his residential compound.
While investigating the scene of incident, personnel of the Bago City Police Station, who responded to reports of illegal discharge of firearms, however, recovered an Armscor caliber .45 pistol with a magazine containing six ammunition, another magazine containing 13 ammunition, an empty magazine of the same gun, and 34 fired cartridges of a caliber .45 pistol.
In a statement, PLt. Col. John Ganzon, officer-in-charge of the Bago City Police Station, encouraged the public to immediately report to authorities any untoward incidents in their respective neighborhoods.*
