PBrig. Gen. Roderick Augustus Alba, former officer in charge of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, is the new director of the Police Regional Office 7 of Central Visayas.
Alba, who was installed yesterday by PNP chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr., replaces Police Brig. Gen. Eduardo Vega, who reached the mandatory retirement age of 56 on October 13.
Prior to his position, Alba served as spokesman and Public Information Officer of the PNP under four PNP chiefs, namely Generals Guillermo Eleazar, Dionardo Carlos, former PNP Officer-in-Charge, Lieutenant Gen. Vicente D. Danao Jr. and eventually, Gen. Azurin.
A member of the Philippine National Police Academy Class 1992, Alba thanked the media for their support and cooperation while he was serving as the PNP PIO. Alba was the deputy director for the administration of the PNP Information Technology Management Service (ITMS) before his appointment as PNP PIO chief.
Before his assignment at Camp Crame, Alba also served as provincial police director of Iloilo, Operations chief of Police Regional Office, aside from being an officer in charge of NOCPPO and station commander of the Bacolod City Police Office.
During the turnover rites in Cebu, Azurin commended Alba for the exemplary work he has done as PNP-PIO and as former PNP spokesman since October 1 last year.*
