Ex-policeman shot dead

BY GILBERT P. BAYORAN

A former policeman was shot and killed by two riding-in tandem suspects on Thursday night at Lizares Avenue in Brgy. 40, Bacolod City.

The victim was identified as Ryan Lomugdang, 41, formerly a member of the Bacolod City Police Office.

Lomugdang died while being treated at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Hospital in Bacolod City, according to the police.

Police investigations show that Lomugdang was on his way to his rented apartment in Brgy. Taculing, Bacolod City, on board his driven motorcycle, when he was shot by two riding-in-tandem suspects.

Lomugdang succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds, including a fatal injury in the head, investigations of the police further showed.

The motive of the shooting incident is still being established by BCPO Police Station 6.

Recovered from the scene of incident were six fired cartridges and three slugs, as well as a live ammunition of .45 caliber pistol.

PMaj. Leo Estopa, BCPO Police Station 6 chief, said that Lomugdang was dismissed from the police service in 2017 after he tested positive for drug use.*
