Exec: Ceneco to review line clearing ops

BY ADRIAN P. NEMES III

The Central Negros Electric Cooperative is set to review its contracts with independent contractors tasked to undertake line clearing operations for the electric firm, its acting general manager, Danny Pondevilla, said.

If found that they are not efficient, then they will be replaced with organic Ceneco employees instead, Pondevilla said.

He said that some power outages were unscheduled and triggered by transient faults because of falling tree branches or wild animals, such as geckos.

Pondevilla added that other outages occurred because they need to report their lines and replace the corroded posts.

Other recent power outages were also caused by maintenance activities conducted by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines on its transmission lines that, in turn, affected Ceneco’s distribution lines, he said.

Meanwhile, an 11-hour power outage will affect member-consumers of Ceneco in barangays Punta Taytay and Sum-ag in Bacolod City, and barangays Abuanan, Tabunan, Dulao, and Atipuluan in Bago City, today.

The outage in Bacolod, that will start from 6 a.m. until 5 p.m., will be for the preventive maintenance of the 10MVA power transformer and repair of hotspot at the Sum-ag sub-station, Pondevilla said. He added that a line clearing operation and replacement of poles will also be conducted on the SF1 and SF2 feeders in Bago.*
