Negros Occidental officials and a consumer group have expressed their optimism that Negros Power would offer improved service delivery, including affordable rates, and the prompt resolution of issues being confronted by its consumers.

Bacolod City Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran said he is anticipating a transition to a more reliable, efficient, and cost-effective power supply for consumers.

Meanwhile, Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer lauded Negros Power for a job well done.

In a statement, Negros Power said it has made significant strides in preparation for its operational launch, including the procurement of essential electrical materials, training of employees and 24/7 helpline staff, and reinforcement of its vehicle fleet from a sister company – MORE Power.

Negros Electric and Power Corporation (Negros Power) recently unveiled its temporary office in Bacolod City, signaling its readiness to commence operations, pending approval from the national government.

Located on the 2nd floor of Robinsons East Mall, Burgos Avenue, Barangay Villamonte, it will house the corporate and operation employees and customer care center.

From a consumer’s point of view, Power Watch Negros secretary general Wennie Sancho said that considering that thousands of electricity consumers will swarm the office soon, the structure and design of the Negros Power main office provides a very wide space to prevent congestion of people.

This hub center of activities for the consumers and Negros Power operations in its franchise area is a manifestation of excellent and quality services which will begin at the doorsteps within the premises of the Negros Power offices. The ambiance provides an atmosphere of assuring safety and comfort to all electricity consumers in the payment of their bills and other business concerns, Sancho said.

The whole area is fully air-conditioned, spacious, with an escalator which is a gesture of concern from Negros Power that the consumers are important. They must be treated with dignity and respect as partners in progress by Negros Power, he added.

In his brief conversation with Roel Castro, Negros Power President and CEO, Sancho said that along with its mission to provide a world class electric service, the values integrated in the growth and development of Negros Power includes excellence in customer services, good performance, accountability and integrity.

“These values will serve as the cornerstone of Negros Power office. Thus, it can be said that quality services are in the doorsteps of Negros Power soon, ” Sancho said.

On the other hand, Castro emphasized the company’s commitment to serving consumers from day one, ensuring that their needs and concerns are addressed promptly.

Castro said the opening of Negros Power office “signifies our dedication to fulfilling our commitments to consumers.”

Collaborating with Joint Venture Agreement (JVA) partner Central Negros Electric Cooperative (CENECO), Negros Power expressed confidence in its preparedness to deliver efficient services to the public.

These initiatives aim to ensure a seamless transition and readiness to serve electric consumers in central Negros effectively.

With the franchise law of Negros Power already approved by Congress and pending presidential endorsement, Castro said he is anticipating operations to commence by August of this year.*
