International and local representatives of the Tennis Aid Association (TAA) and the Unified Tennis Philippines (UTP) Ryzza Magnin and Jackie Tomacruz met with San Carlos City top officials to discuss tennis sport development in the city yesterday.

The two guests paid a courtesy to City Mayor Renato Gustilo and Vice Mayor Christopher Paul Carmona and were accompanied by Kristoff Carmona. They will be meeting with sports officials and other stakeholders of the sport in the city.

The visit is aimed at identifying the city’s needs in sports development and the challenges to help address priorities, goals and the means to improve players by building capacity and strengthening the sports program.

Ryzza Magnin, Strategic Partner of TAA, said that their goal is to make tennis accessible to everyone and pilot the Philippines on its sports program while helping them understand, learn and see how they can expand further in the Asia Pacific region.

Magnin added that one of the key assets of the city is the strong support of its local government unit which made it a recipient of their program.

Jackie Tomacruz, General Manager of UTP, on the other hand, said that they nominated San Carlos City to be a recipient of the said program after they organized tournaments and found that the city has potential players, aside from strongly supporting sports development.

Local coaches will be assessed as well as players as part of the program’s holistic approach which is from the grassroots to the elite players wherein an actual training is expected early next year.

The UTP is a non-stock and non-profit organization that partnered with TAA, which is based in Spain, with a presence in 68 countries in its goal to support the development of tennis. In the Philippines, it aims to prepare players to become globally competitive.*
