Dr. Erlinda De los Reyes marked her 85th birthday at Seda Capitol Central, Bacolod City on August 12 with family, relatives, friends and colleagues in the medical profession, in a grand celebration with the theme “Fabulous @ 85.”
Erlinda’s closest friends, Dr. Hester Villanueva, Dr. Cecilia Salvador, and Dr. Bella Benedicto, in their tributes, shared some trivia about the celebrator, who was considered the “Elizabeth Taylor” of her time, and how she met her late husband Dr. Telesforo Javellana De los Reyes, as well as her many achievements.
The celebrant is an anesthesiologist and the oldest child of the late Antonio Gelvezon, former mayor of Guimbal, Iloilo, and the late Isabel Encanto Gelvezon.
Her grandson, Adrian De Los Reyes, described her as a type A personality, an eager beaver, and workaholic, while her daughter, Dr. Antonia Cruz says she is a fighter, is fierce, persistent and insistent, and stands her ground most of the time. But despite her character, their mother has a soft and golden heart for the less fortunate, underprivileged, the abandoned, with whom she has shared her services, she said.
Adrian Delos Reyes added that his grandmother has earned and garnered multiple amounts of prestigious awards for so many years from the medical societies and multiple community based programs and civic charitable/church services where she served the underserved of their local community, and continues to do so.
Also present during the celebration were the celebrant’s son, retired Army Col. Isabelo De los Reyes, Rhia Rose, Rodulfo Victor Cruz and Brian John Cruz.*
