Face-to-face classes suspended in EB Magalona

Mayor Marvin Malacon extended the suspension of face-to-face (F2F) classes, and directed a shift to modular modality of learning in all levels, both in public and private schools, in the Municipality of E.B. Magalona today, due to inclement weather brought by the Southwest Monsoon (habagat) and enhanced by Tropical Depression “Gener,” according to a press release from EB Magalona PIO.

Work in government offices shall continue.

Based on Weather Advisory of PAGASA issued at 11 a.m. today, the Province of Negros Occidental is forecast to continue to experience “heavy to intense rainfall (100 mm- 200 mm)” until noon of Wednesday.

Under these conditions, flooding and rain-induced landslides are likely, especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards as identified in hazard maps and in areas with significant antecedent rainfall.

The public and the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices concerned are advised to take all necessary measures to protect life and property.

Persons living in areas identified to be highly or very highly susceptible to storm surges, floods, and landslides are advised to follow evacuation and other instructions from MDRRMO and local officials.*
