The body of a farmer was found on Saturday, lifeless inside his farm located at Purok Malipayon, Barangay Sibucao, in the town of San Enrique, Negros Occidental.
The cadaver was identified by his wife as Jurly Sevilla, a 55-year-old married farmer and a resident of the barangay.
The San Enrique Municipal Police Station immediately investigated the scene, and it was revealed that two days before the discovery, the victim told his wife that he would stay in their farm to watch over their livestock.
Since then, the wife testified that the victim never communicated with her, so she worried about his condition, triggering her to visit his husband at their farm. Upon reaching the farm, the victim was discovered by his wife lying lifeless, and his body was found half lying on the folding bed, with his head on the ground.
After the incident was reported, the cadaver was brought to funeral homes and will undergo postmortem examination, police said.
SAN CARLOS CITY
On the morning of the same day, authorities reported that another dead body was found at Sitio Flum, Hacienda San Jose, Barangay Guadalupe, San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.
Investigation disclosed that the 79-year-old senior citizen, identified by the alias ‘Fernando,’ was found by his son lifeless in the river located at the said barangay.
According to the family members, their father allegedly went missing at around 6 p.m., the day prior to the discovery. The family searched for the victim, but it was only the next morning that the cadaver was discovered floating in the river.
The body was retrieved by the Philippine Coast Guard San Carlos Sub-Station and transported to Saint Francis Funeral Homes in San Carlos City for postmortem examination by the City Health Officer.*
