A farmer died after his neighbor hacked him several times, following a heated argument, at about 8 p.m. Wednesday in La Carlota City, Negros Occidental.
The police identified the victim as Albert Lacsinto, 43, of Purok Lampunaya in Brgy. San Miguel, La Carlota.
Investigation showed that Lacsinto and the suspect, Arnel Tacuyo, 42, were having a drinking spree in the house of the victim when an argument ensued between them. The latter left and returned minutes later with a bolo, and challenged him to a fight.
Lacsinto came out with a cane cutter but Tacuyo repeatedly hacked him then fled, leaving his bolo, the police said.
IN SIPALAY, TOO
In Sipalay City, Negros Occidental, two were injured in a hacking duel caused by gossip at about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
A police report showed that Ernesto Barcelo, 50, of Brgy. Camindagan, and his neighbor Juvy Gonzales, 45, hacked each other after the latter accused the son of Barcelo of stealing a fighting cock.
Both Barcelo and Gonzales were brought to the Sipalay Health Clinic for treatment of their injuries.*
