Farmer seized with guns in Don Salvador Benedicto

• THERESA MAE DULMAN

Don Salvador Benedicto police arrested a 57-year-old farmer on February 26 after he allegedly caused a drunken public disturbance while armed with an unlicensed firearm in Barangay Pandanon.

Neighbors reported the suspect, identified as alias Leto of Purok Super L, after his drunken behavior and visible weapon caused widespread panic.

During the serving of the warrant at his residence, police recovered a .38 caliber revolver and one round of ammunition.

After verifying the farmer possessed an unlicensed gun, authorities conducted an operation for violations of the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition.

The Police Regional Office Negros Island Region (PRO NIR) stated that the operation reflects their ongoing commitment to professional policing and public safety.*
