A farmer was shot several times by a fellow farmer during a drinking session at around 7 p.m. on Saturday along the National Highway of Purok 12, Barangay Asia, Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental.
Initial police investigation revealed that the victim, alias “Ronald,” a 37-year-old single farmer, was having a drinking session at the residence of his friend alias “Leonardo,” together with the suspect, identified as alias “Jordan,” a 24-year-old single farmer in the said area.
During the session, a heated argument arose between the two. The police said that intoxication possibly caused the crime.
In the midst of the altercation, the suspect suddenly drew an unidentified firearm and shot the victim several times, hitting him in the chest and causing his death.
After the incident, the suspect fled the scene, taking with him the weapon used in committing the crime. The cadaver of the victim was brought to Koinonia Funeral Homes, Purok 6, Barangay 1, Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental.
The Hinobaan MPS are still conducting a pursuit operation for the possible arrest of the suspect.*
