The “Power of Fourth” was tested and proven during the Miting de Avance of 4th district congressional candidate Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer, who estimates that about 23,000 attended the final leg of his campaign sorties on Tuesday, at the Manuel Y. Torres Sports Center in Bago City, Negros Occidental.
Proving to critics that his political group remains a force to reckon with, the political activity of Ferrer was attended by his wife, Representative Juliet Marie Ferrer; Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson; former Interior and Local Government Secretary and senatorial aspirant Benhur Abalos; Cavite Rep. Lanie Mercado, representing her husband, reelectionist Senator Bong Revilla; vice gubernatorial aspirant Board Member Jose Benito Alonso; Board member aspirants Mayor Nicholas Yulo and Paula Alonso; Abang Lingkod partylist nominee Board Member Manuel Frederick Ko; and all the incumbent mayors and aspirants of 4th district, including La Carlota City Mayor Rex Jalandoon and his challenger Jose Luis Jalandoni; Valladolid mayoral candidates Ricardo Presbitero and Roel Yogore; Pulupandan Mayor Miguel Peña; Pontevedra Mayor Jose Maria Alonso and San Enrique Mayor Jilson Tubillara; as well as La Castellana Mayor Rhummyla Nicor Mangilimutan and Don Salvador Benedicto Mayor Marxlen de la Cruz.
Ferrer, who also marked his 56th birthday, said he was overwhelmed by the presence of thousands of people, which he described as the “Power of Fourth.”
Even the opposing mayors of La Carlota City and Valladolid came out, and expressed their support for his candidacy, he added.
Ferrer is being challenged by Lea Delfinado, a former regional director of the Department of Public Works and Highways.
If he wins, Ferrer said he will continue the projects started by his wife, Juliet Marier Ferrer, and coordinate with 4th district mayors to determine their needs and wants, which will benefit their respective constituents.
Prior to a caravan in the 4th district, a mass was offered for the birthday of Ferrer, also attended by his family members, political allies and supporters.*
