Former Vice President Leni Robredo turns over a coffee table book “Tayo ang Liwanag” to former Gov. Rafael Coscolluela during the book launching at a hotel in Bacolod City.*

She may have lost in the presidential race, but former Vice President Leni Robredo yesterday said the “fight is not over, for good governance.”

Robredo, who attended the first general assembly of Paghimud-os Negros Inc. at the Acacia Hotel in Bacolod City, said that the campaign for good governance will continue, as she thanked Negrenses for their support during the 2022 presidential race.

Along the way, we have achieved the kind of governance we want, the former Vice President said.

The Paghimud-os Negros Inc. is chaired by former Negros Occidental Gov. Rafael Coscolluela, her campaign manager in the province during last year’s election.

“The fight does not end there, because we did not fight for a mere post, but for something we believed in… and even despite the loss, we still believed in that idea,” she stressed.

BOOK LAUNCHING

Robredo launched and held a book signing of her coffee table book, “Tayo Ang Liwanag (We Are the Light),” which was meant to memorialize her “Peoples’ Campaign.”

Coscolluela said “Tayo Ang Liwanag,” a project of Angat Pilipinas, is a pictorial collection of the 2022 campaign, with personal narrations of the former vice president.

Coscolluela said Robredo also came to attend the oath taking and first general assembly of Paghimud-os Negros, Inc., where he is the founding chairman.

“There was also a commitment signing as part of our commitment to support the initiatives of Angat Buhay,” he said.

Coscolluela said “Robredo is touching base again with all of our supporters and volunteers, and advocating for continuing engagement as civil society with local government and communities so we can help build the nation. It’s no longer enough to just complain about what is happening. We have to get engaged and start doing things which are positive.”

They organized Paghimud-os, a civil society coalition, with the same objective which is “to give civil society a voice and enable us to actually influence how we are governed. So this the start of a positive engagement program that will allow civil society to actually contribute to nation building,” he said.

Former Comelec supervisor Jess Suarez is the vice chairman of Paghimud-os and the 15 incorporators who organized the coalition represent different sectors in Negros, he added.

A year after her loss in the May 22 elections, Robredo launched the 388-page coffee table book to reminisce about her volunteer-driven campaign for the presidency.

“Kuwento nating lahat ito, hindi lng ito kuwento ko, so maraming salamat pero (This is our story, not just mine, so thank you but) l really want to thank everyone not just for joining us sa laban na pinagdadaanan natin na napakahirap pero (in this difficult struggle but) for not losing hope even after the grief we felt when we lost,” Robredo said.

The book which features photos, anecdotes, and Robredo’s personal insights will cost P2,499 hardbound and P1,000 softbound, and is currently available for pre-order.

Those who want to order the coffee table book can access online – Tayo ang Liwanag FB page.*
