Fil-Sino 2nd conference class C, class B champs named

AACI Trading defeated the Royal Star Trading 57-56 to win the class C championship in the Fil-Sino Athletic Club second conference. Down by 8 points, 48-56, with 1:28 remaining in the fourth quarter, the former made a 9-0 run to close out the game in a miraculous fashion.

Michael Ang’s only 3-point shot of the game that found the bottom of the net cut the led by one point, followed by Brix Arrobang’s bank shot, sealing the win for AACI Trading.

Doc Emil Guanzon led AACI with 9 points, followed by Brix Arrobang and Jason Yap with 7 points apiece, and Brian Ebro’s 6 points.  Micmic Germodo led all scorers with 11 points for Royal Star Trading, Lito Dumdum followed with 9 points and then Jay Agulan and Walter Recodo with 6 points each.

In the Class B category, the final standings were decided when Silver Dragon Transport were twice beaten by the Huminova Tigers.  Last night’s upset resulted in an 87-90 loss and gave Harry Siendo his first championship in ten finals appearances.

The game got out to a competitive start as Silver Dragon held a one-point edge after one quarter. Huminova Tigers then grabbed the upper hand in the second carrying a two-point edge into halftime 47-45.

The Tigers brought a better effort in the third, outscoring the Dragons in the quarter to claim a nine-point advantage heading into the final frame, 73-64.  Silver Dragons managed to turn things around down the stretch, mounting an impressive comeback that led to a chance to tie the game with JD Javelosa’s final attempt from behind the arc, which unfortunately missed the mark, allowing the Huminova Tigers close out the win.

Polo Lopingco’s 14 points on four triples led the Tigers, while Cesar Tan, JB Co and Arnol Laureno scored 10 apiece, followed by Marc Jalapa with 9 and Harry Siendo and Jeff Maningo – 8 each.

Harvey Eslawa scored the game-high 23 points for Silver Dragon Transport. JD Javelosa and Genmar Zagado followed with 12 points each, Jeremy Coo – 10 and Arvin Espinitra – 8.*
