Finals set for Governor’s Cup basketball tilt

The Governor’s Cup 5-on-5 Basketball Tournament (A Tribute to Dodong Bascon’s Contributions to Negros Basketball) is set to conclude on Saturday at the STI-West Negros University (STI-WNU) Gymnasium, where two of the strongest teams from the Bracket A and B classifications will vie for the top spot.

Dumaguete City from Bracket A and the STI-West Negros University (STI-WNU) from Bracket B, teams that are both unscathed during the eliminations, will be battling for the title.

They will face off on the basketball court to settle who is the best 21-under team in the Province of Negros Occidental.

Meanwhile, bracket B’s Bacolod City ABB will play against E.B. Magalona from Bracket A in the battle for third place.

Aside from glory, cash prizes and trophies await the 5-on-5 basketball tournament winners – champion, first runner-up, second runner-up, and the mythical five, which includes the most valuable player award.

Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, Provincial Sports Office head Anthony Carlo Agustin and the Bascon family will lead the awarding ceremony.

The Governor’s Cup 5-on-5 Basketball Tournament is a tribute to the late Oscar “Dodong” Bascon for his contributions to the development and promotion of basketball in the province.

The tournament is part of the Abanse Negrense Grassroots Sports Development Programs spearheaded by Lacson.*
