
The City of Talisay, in partnership with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), successfully kicked-off the 3-day Asenso Talisay Financial Literacy Caravan on March 25 to 27, at the Rafael B. Lacson Memorial High School, Inocencio V. Ferrer Memorial School of Fisheries, and Notre Dame of Talisay, a press release from Talisay PIO said.
The event aimed to equip over 2,000 students and stakeholders with essential knowledge on financial management, digital payment systems, and investment protection.
The program opened with a welcome message from Marie Rose Pregua, principal of Rafael B. Lacson Memorial High School, followed by a message from the city mayor, delivered by Ismael Penado, assistant city administrator and Local Economic and Investment promotions officer.
Engr. Lynna Joy Cardinal, provincial director from the Department of Trade and Industry-Negros Occidental, expressed her support for the initiative, emphasizing the importance of financial literacy in driving inclusive growth and development.
The event featured informative sessions, including: Digital Payment and Cyber Hygiene Practices by Roannvi Villarojo, bank officer IV, BSP Visayas Regional Office; Building Savings and Financial Security by Katherine Paulmitan, HR Training and Development Unit head, Dungganon Bank Inc.; Digital Wallet Essentials presented by Jennifer Andrade, Central Visayas trainer from GCash; Kayang-Kaya Kabayan: Young Pera by Paz Meso, team head, Overseas Filipino Program Unit for Visayas, BDO Remittance; Anti-Investment Scam Awareness led by Laarni Dilag King, information officer II, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) – Bacolod Extension Office.*
