Fire-affected market vendors get financial aid

• CHRYSEE G. SAMILLANO

About 25 stall owners at the Bacolod City Central Market, who were affected by the December 13 fire that resulted in about P4.7 million in damage, were extended financial assistance at a personal capacity by Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez.

Fourteen tenants, whose stalls were destroyed by fire, received P50,000 each, while 11 other tenants, whose stalls were damaged, received 25,000 each.

Benitez hopes that the assistance he extended could help finance the needs of the fire victims in rebuilding their livelihood.

Also present during the distribution of assistance to the affected market stall owners were Bacolod Rep. Greg Gasataya, Bacolod City Councilors June Thaddeus Sayson, Jason Villarosa, Al Victor Espino, Vladimir Gonzalez, and Em Ang.*
