The Bureau of Fire Protection in Bacolod City has lined up several activities in line with the celebration of Fire Prevention Month on March 1 which will start with a mass at 8 a.m.
The celebration will kick-off with a motorcade from the BFP Central Fire Station along San Juan Street, Barangay 8, Bacolod City at noontime that will end at Ayala Malls Capitol Central where a program will follow with Bacolod Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez as guest of honor and speaker.
The opening of a photo exhibit will be held at SM City Bacolod followed by a Fire Square Roadshow at SM City Bacolod that will run until March 2.
A drawing and poster making contest, as well as quiz bee will be held at the Ayala Malls Capitol Central on March 4, while a tree planting activity will be held in Brgy. Felisa on March 5.
An open house/station tour is scheduled on March 7 and 8 at the Bacolod City Fire Station. Other activities lined up for March are barangay fire drill and exit drills, feeding program, simultaneous fire exit drill in public elementary schools, coastal clean-up, mural painting contest at the Bacolod City National High School on March 19, the 3rd Mayor Albee Benitez Rescue Fire Olympics (barangay, company and school category) on March 22, Fun Bike and medical and dental mission on March 30, among others.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Meanwhile, about 13 families affected by the recent fires in Barangay 17 on February 14, and Barangay 35 on February 13 received financial assistance yesterday at the Bacolod City Government Center AICS Building.
The beneficiaries received financial aid ranging from P5,000 to P15,000, depending on the extent of the damage. Renters or sharers received P5,000, households with damaged homes received P10,000, and those whose homes were destroyed received P15,000.*
