FIRE PREVENTION MONTH
According to a press release, the kickoff event was attended by Fire Chief Supt. Gilbert Dolot, officer-in-charge, Chief Directorial Staff of the BFP National Headquarters, who served as the guest of honor and speaker. In his message, Dolot emphasized the importance of proactive fire safety measures, strengthened community partnerships, and shared responsibility in preventing fire incidents, especially during the summer season when fire cases significantly increase.
Leading the regional delegation was FCSupt. Rodolfo Denaga, Regional Director of BFP Negros Island Region, together with the key regional staff, provincial fire marshals, and all city and municipal fire marshals across the Negros Island Region.
The BFP, under the leadership of FSupt. Jenny Mae Masip, Bacolod City Fire Marshal, played a vital role in organizing and hosting the regional kick-off activities.
Also present during the ceremony were members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod City, including Councilor Psyche Marie Sy, Committee chair on Fire and Natural Disaster, Councilor Celia Flor, and Councilor Bobby Rojas. Representing the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Bacolod City was Director Christian Nagaynay.
The activity was strongly supported by partner agencies from the uniformed services, national and local government offices, barangay community fire auxiliary groups (CFAG), volunteer fire brigades, private establishments, and civic organizations.
The kick-off motorcade officially started at 6 a.m. with more than 600 participants joining the procession around the city, symbolizing a unified commitment to fire safety awareness and prevention advocacy throughout the month of March.
This year’s Fire Prevention Month celebration carries the theme: “Sa Pag-iwas sa Sunog, Hindi Ka Nag-iisa.” The theme underscores the collective responsibility of the government and the community in ensuring safety from destructive fires.
The regional kick-off sets the tone for a month-long series of activities, including fire drills, information campaigns, exhibits, community engagements, and partnership initiatives aimed at strengthening fire prevention efforts across the Negros Island Region.*
