Bacolod Rep. Greg Gasataya said his office will release today cash assistance coming from the national government to 19 families of Purok Riverside, Zone 2, Brgy. Bata, Bacolod City, who were affected by the fire Friday.
Gasataya said the 17 families, whose houses were destroyed by the fire, will receive P5,000 each, while the two sharers will get P3,000 each.
The distribution of fire assistance will be held at the Montevista Gym together with the distribution of medical, burial and other assistance from the national government, he said.
Meanwhile, Gasataya said about 2,000 Bacolodnons will avail of the cash-for-work program, or the Tulong Panghanap Buhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Worker program, of the Department of Labor and Employment for June.
About 1,600 Bacolod residents will avail of the program from July to September, and more than 2,000 for October to December, or a total of 6,000 residents, he said.
Gasataya said it is the barangay that will determine who can work under the Tupad program. A beneficiary will receive P3,950 for 10 days and will also be given clothes and safety gear. They informed the barangays that they can avail of the program as long as they have liquidated the previous funds they have availed of from the DOLE, he added.*
